Getting You Where You Need to Go

rural public transportation

If you live in Vigo County, you may have seen vans sporting the Thrive logo, delivering people to and from Terre Haute. These are part of Thrive’s transportation program, which delivers community members to and from rural areas to Terre Haute. Covering Parke, Vermillion, and Vigo counties, our transportation system picks up and drops off clients Mondays through Fridays until 4 p.m.

Making a Reservation

Thrive transportation is free to those 60 years of age or older, and costs only $2 for those under 60. Our trained drivers can take you from a rural area within our counties to larger areas, such as Terre Haute. This resource is helpful for those needing to attend a doctor’s appointment, go grocery shopping, and more in Terre Haute or other Vigo County regions. Our transportation team serves an average of 75 people per day, providing safe, reliable, and efficient trips to those in need!

We recommend reserving a spot on our vans 1-2 days in advance, to make sure that you don’t lose your seat! To do this, call (812) 232-2675 or (800) 489-1561, and provide the following information:

  • Name and the number of riders
  • Type of trip (medical appointment, grocery shopping, travel to work or school, etc.)
  • Pick up location and destination
  • Desired pickup time
  • Call back phone number

Please advise the dispatcher if the pickup location is difficult to access, or if you (or the passenger) require special assistance. Our services are provided from the door at your pickup point to the door at your destination. Therefore, the driver may assist you to and from the door when boarding or leaving the bus. However, he/she is not permitted to enter a residence or business.

Hearing impaired persons can call the Indiana Relay Service at 711 or (317) 344-1413 for assistance in making a reservation.
